Our most expansive space celebrates the historic soul of our Tudor townhouse. This unique space features two distinct architectural moods: a striking, high-ceilinged hall crowned with majestic chandeliers and a cozy room defined by low, rustic beams and large windows framing the courtyard.
Highly adaptable, the table layouts can be tailored to host grand, festive parties, lively family feasts or sectioned for smaller, boutique celebrations.
The Goodramgate Room
Framed by grand, expansive windows that stretch toward the timber beams and look out over bustling Goodramgate, this intimate room seamlessly bridges the energy of the street with the warmth of our restaurant. Beneath low, characterful ceilings, you can enjoy a beautifully lit lunch or an atmospheric dinner. It is a deeply romantic setting for intimate dinners, lively midday gatherings, and unforgettable evenings spent watching the world go by.
The Marmaduke Room
For celebrations that call for a touch of intimate charm, the Marmaduke Room provides a beautifully secluded escape, perfectly tailored for private gatherings and small parties. Situated on the first floor, this space is defined by original timber framing, low ceilings, and the warm, golden glow of amber lighting.
Here, guests can glimpse centuries-old graffiti preserved on the wall: the signature of Marmaduke Buckle, a son of the wealthy Tudor family who once owned the building.
The Courtyard
Enclosed by historic red brick walls and stunning Tudor timberwork, our Courtyard is a hidden sanctuary in the heart of York. Quiet, sun-drenched and complemented by potted olive trees and seasonal floral accents this space it perfect for authentic alfresco dining. It provides a beautifully secluded, laid-back escape to enjoy fine wine and Italian flavours under the open sky.
